Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Thierry Henry and three other Sky Sports pundits have named their signings of the season.
Of the six pundits, three backed Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the best Premier League signing of the campaign.
The Swede moved to Old Trafford as a free agent in the summer, and has scored 17 goals and assisted a further five in 27 league games.
Gary Neville offered a simple argument for his nomination of the 35-year-old, saying: “Ultimately he’s been the best signing. He’s given the players and the club a lot more confidence.”
Jamie Carragher was rather more vocal, adding: “There were always questions surrounding Ibrahimovic because he never quite did it against English teams in Europe.
But he’s now done it at 35, keeping United in contention for the top four, with a trophy already in the bag, and he may win another in the Europa League.”
Thierry Henry accepted that Ibrahimovic had a strong case, but he provided his backing for Liverpool forward Sadio Mane.
Mane joined the Reds for £34million from Southampton in the summer, and has a club-leading 13 goals in the league.
“I have to give Ibrahimovic a lot of credit, but Sadio Mane has been the signing of the season,” Henry said.
Of the other three pundits to give their votes, Alan Smith also backed Mane, while Graeme Souness gave his vote to Ibrahimovic. Niall Quinn was the only man to pick a different player: Chelsea centre-half David Luiz.
