Gary Neville has ‘made up his mind’ to leave Valencia at the end of the season, according to reports. You’d presume that the club and supporters will be pretty happy with that too.

The England coach, who joins up with Roy Hodgson’s side on Sunday, has reportedly decided to walk away after growing fed up with his critics and despite Valencia owner Peter Lim wanting him to stay.

Valencia gave their best performance under Neville in a 2-1 Europa League win over Athletic Bilbao on Thursday but were denied a place in the quarter-finals on away goals.

A handball was not spotted in the build-up to Athletic’s away goal but after the game Neville said: “Results are not what they should be for this club and that’s something I’m very aware of.”

The former Manchester United defender has never liked the idea that he was in the job only due to his friendship and business relationship with Lim so he needed some success this season to feel justified in taking the club forward, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Seventh place should be enough to qualify for Europe and if Valencia can beat Celta Vigo, they will be eight points away with eight games left. Neville could have his mind changed if his young team go on a fine run but as things stand he looks set to leave.
