Gary Neville has laid into Mesut Ozil, saying he can’t accept his moodiness and lack of effort.
Ozil has received widespread criticism for his recent form, after reportedly agitating for a move away from Arsenal. The German’s contract expires at the end of next season, and an extension remains unsigned.
Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of Arsenal vs Manchester City, Neville was asked for his take on Ozil’s form. Strap in:
“Sanchez I can live with, because he fights for everything,” said Neville.
“But Mesut Ozil, I can’t be doing with watching him play football”
“You see Messi and Ronaldo giving their all every match. I’m not going to accept someone that plays football looking like he’s down a coal mine.
“I want Arsene Wenger to stay at Arsenal, personally. If Manchester United couldn’t win the league, I’d want Arsenal to win it.”
