Gary Neville has thanked the Valencia fans for their patience after his side reached the Copa del Rey semi-final.
Los Che won 1-0 at Las Palmas on Thursday night to complete a 2-1 aggregate victory and join Barcelona, Celta Vigo and Sevilla in the last four.
Neville hopes the acheivement can provide a platform for his side to give the manager his first league victory following seven games without a Primera Division win since taking over in December.
“I’m delighted with the result, delighted with the clean sheet, but I thought we made it damn hard for ourselves,” said Neville.
“I think we like to make the Valencia fans suffer a bit, but I’m delighted for the fans.
“They deserve a semi-final. They have been patient with me and the players for the past four or five weeks and we need to give them joy.”
Neville wants three points on Sunday when Valencia host Sporting Gijon, who are second from bottom.
He said: “I’m sure the fans will be in a good mood on Sunday and there will be a great atmosphere at the Mestalla.”
