Incoming Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has ‘given the green light’ to a renewed pursuit of Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin, according to reports.
The Independent claims that the Spaniard is way out ahead on a list of potential right-backs at the Nou Camp, particularly because he has ‘Barcelona DNA’, having started his career at La Masia.
Barcelona are expected to move for Bellerin early in the window, and have taken encouragement from Manchester City’s pursuit of Kyle Walker, believing it gives them a free run at the Spaniard.
It may be that Arsenal’s switch to a 3-5-2 formation will work in their favour, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain adapting very well to the right wing-back role.
Hector Bellerin reacts with his middle finger to a Tottenham fan mocking him today. Not happy.
