Norwich v Bournemouth preview

Norwich will attempt to get back on the winning trail when they welcome fellow Premier League newcomers Bournemouth to Carrow Road on Saturday.

Alex Neil’s side kicked off their return to the top flight with a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, before going undefeated in their next two games – a 3-1 over Sunderland followed by a 1-1 draw against Stoke.

However, a 3-0 loss to Southampton before the international break has left the Canaries two points above the relegation zone in 14th place.

The Cherries began life in the top tier of English football with back-to-back defeats against Aston Villa and Liverpool, but they have since gone two matches unbeaten with a 4-3 success over West Ham and a 1-1 draw with Leicester.

History is not on the Norfolk outfit’s side heading into this fixture, though, as they have not beaten Bournemouth on home soil since 1951.

Loanees Dieumerci Mbokani and Matt Jarvis are both in line to make their debuts for the hosts this weekend.

But Neil must do without defender Steven Whittaker, who serves a one-match ban for his dismissal against the Saints last time out, while midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu remains sidelined with a fractured metatarsal.

Howe is set to give new signing Glenn Murray his bow for the Cherries, with the striker moving from Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day.

However, he is still unable to call on defender Tyrone Mings or forward Max Gradel, with the duo both out with cruciate ligament injuries.
