Divock Origi says that Liverpool are capable of surprising people this season.
Liverpool finished eighth in the Premier League in 2015/16, with Jurgen Klopp taking over from Brendan Rodgers in October 2015.
Origi barely featured under Rodgers, but saw his role grow under the new manager.
Having seen Liverpool make a number of summer signings, the Belgian forward believes that the club can once again challenge for top honours this season.
“We want to achieve the highest [targets] possible,” Origi told Liverpool’s official site.
“It’s never easy, but we have to stick together as a team and as a club.
“We know there will be good moments, and moments that will be more difficult — but if we have the same plan, the same ambition, the same hunger, I think we will stand very strong.
“Everything is there to do great things, so we always have to keep hope and keep pushing until the end.
“If we do this, I’m convinced we can surprise people this year.”
Origi also spoke about his own role in Liverpool’s team, and hopes to make a big impact this season.
“I’m feeling sharp, I’m working very hard and I’m learning every day,” Origi said. “I feel ready to start the season.
“Every moment, day by day, I just try to maximise everything. If you can do this, of course you reach big things, so that’s my goal this year — to be top on every level.
“The manager knows my qualities very well and he knows.”
Mané has already nailed down a spot in an attacking trio likely to include Coutinho & Lallana behind either Firmino or Origi. (James Pearce)
