AC Milan say they will pursue a deal to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, but “only on our terms”.
Morata has been linked with a list of clubs this summer, but seemed destined to join Manchester United.
The Premier League pulled out of the race to sign Romelu Lukaku instead, with Chelsea then emerging as a potential candidate.
Clubs in the Chinese Super League have also expressed an interest in the Spaniard, but his most likely destination now seems to be the Italian capital.
Morata spent two years with Juventus from 2014 before returning to Real, but an ambitious Milan side are exploring the possibility of bringing him back.
“Morata? We’ve been looking at him from the beginning [of the window], he’s made himself available to us,” Mirabelli told Premium Sport.
“There were complications between the Champions League final and the emergence of other teams, and the track cooled down. It may warm up again, but only on our terms.”
