Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain says that his first hug with Jurgen Klopp was “very loving” and “very passionate”. Did he chuck a quick squeeze in there?
Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Liverpool in a £35million move from Arsenal on deadline day.
The England international made his debut in the 5-0 defeat to Manchester City – his first appearance at club level since starting for Arsenal in their 4-0 defeat to the Reds before the international break.
The 24-year-old will be hoping for better performances in the coming years, just so that he can ensure more “very passionate” moments with his new manager.
“I’ve always been a central attacking midfielder,” he told Sky Sports.
“As I became a professional I got put out wide more. I like doing that as well but I want to be further forward on the pitch.
“I got the feeling from coming here that I’d be playing further forward and in attacking midfield.”
But no-one really cares about where Oxlade-Chamberlain will play. How was his first hug with Klopp?
“[The hug] was nice, very warm, very loving, very passionate.
“He’s a really interesting and inspirational character. I’ve got that hunger to do him right and play well for him.”
