Mesut Ozil’s agent has said that contract negotiations with Arsenal are ‘going well’ and hints that he may stay with the Gunners.
The Sun claim that signing a new contract would be ‘a humiliating Arsenal climbdown’ for the German, who turned down their £250,000-a-week contract offer in the summer.
They say that Besiktas are the only club to show any real interest in Ozil, who reportedly asked Arsenal for wages of £330,000 a week.
Manchester United are said to be Ozil’s destination of choice, but Jose Mourinho is hardly lacking in attacking midfielders.
“Ozil wants to play another two-three years in the Premier League,” Dr Erkut Sogut told Turkish outlet Fanatik. “Talks with Arsenal are ongoing regarding a new deal, what I can say right now is that negotiations are going well.”
