Ozil has ‘told Arsenal team-mates’ that he will join Man United

Mesut Ozil is so sure that he will join Manchester United that he has told his Arsenal team-mates about the move, according to a report.

In the Daily Mirror, Mr Arsenal John Cross writes that Ozil has told Arsenal’s players he will sign for United, but offers very little information other than simply that line. Surely this isn’t an attempt to besmirch a reputation?

Ozil can leave for free at the end of the season and has shown very little intention to sign a new contract. That has led to criticism over his efforts for the team and have caused Ozil to be left out of some matches. Still, he’s clearly a very good player and one that Arsenal will have to pay huge money to replace.

For all the talk of Manchester United, it’s also worth mentioning that Cross says no interest has yet been forthcoming from Jose Mourinho. In fact, Inter are the only club to have made an enquiry.

‘The Gunners offered £275,000-a-week last season but Mirror Sport understands their interest in keeping him has now cooled,’ Cross writes. Yes, because Ozil did not sign that new deal. There’s not a lot else they can do.

Still, telling your team-mates in October that you are joining Manchester United eight months later is ballsy, if true.
