Crystal Palace have reportedly tabled an improved bid for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke worth an initial £27m.
The Guardian claim that the final figure could be £31.5m depending on Benteke’s performances and Palace securing European football.
‘Personal terms are not expected to prove problematic because the 25-year-old is keen to revive his career, although negotiations continue over the player’s image rights,’ claim The Guardian, who clearly expect the Belgian to jump at the opportunity to revive his career away from Anfield.
Palace failed to sign Benteke’s Belgian teammate Michy Batshuayi, who has instead joined Chelsea for £33m. West Ham were also in the market for Batshuayi and have been strongly linked with Benteke.
The Eagles have already signed Andros Townsend for £13m and French goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, while West Ham defender James Tomkins is expected to make the move for £12m.
Yannick Bolasie has been strongly linked with a move away from the club to either Everton or West Ham.
