Parlour suggests Arsenal should sign Harry Kane

Ray Parlour believes Arsenal require two more players to challenge for the Premier League title next season – including Harry Kane.

Kane has scored 24 Premier League goals this season to fire Tottenham to an unlikely title challenge, although the north London club look likely to miss out to leaders Leicester.

Sergio Aguero of Manchester City is the only striker to outscore Kane over the past two Premier League season, with the Argentinean scoring 49 goals to Kane’s 45.

Former midfielder Parlour believes that the 22-year-old, as well as Borussia Dortmund centre-half Mats Hummels, should be targeted.

“I think we might need to spend £70million-£80million this summer to get the right players in to challenge next season,” Parlour told talkSPORT.

“But they’re not too far away. I think Arsenal are just lacking two real big characters in midfield, they need a Tony Adams type player, like Mats Hummels, at centre-half and a top class striker, there’s no doubt about that.

“Look, I played with Ian Wright and Thierry Henry… we all know we need a top quality striker.

“Mesut Ozil has created more chances than any other player in the Premier League this season, so that just shows you he’s creating chances, but is there a man to finish them off?”

When asked who he would sign, Parlour replied: “Harry Kane, maybe?

“That’s who I’d go for. He’s an Arsenal fan! Have you seen the pictures of his in 2004 with an Arsenal shirt on? He’s one of our own!”
