Pellegrini: Bravo is the ‘best keeper in the world’

Former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini thinks the English press have been “very hard” on Claudio Bravo and has hailed him as the “best goalkeeper in the world”.

Bravo moved to the Etihad Stadium in the summer for a reported £17million from Barcelona, while City let Joe Hart move on a season-long loan to Torino.

The Chilean has come under criticism at times after only managing to keep three clean sheets this season, but Pellegrini has defended the keeper’s pedigree.

“He is criticised a lot but Claudio Bravo is the best goalkeeper in the world,” said Pellegrini.

“The English press are very hard on him, as they are with the entire world.

“And if Bravo has gone from Real Sociedad to Barcelona and Barcelona to Man City it is because he is the best goalkeeper in the world.”
