Bad news for Liverpool fans, with confirmation that Philippe Coutinho will be out for a few weeks with injury.
Coutinho came off during the 1-0 victory over Stoke in the Capital One Cup with a suspected hamstring injury, joining a list of 427 other Liverpool players with the same problem.
Speaking before his side face Exeter on Friday night in the FA Cup, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that, while Dejan Lovren and Kolo Toure’s injuries were not serious, Coutinho would be out for a while.
“Coutinho is more serious than Dejan. Kolo is only cramp but it won’t be possible for him to play the next game,” Klopp said.
“Lovren should be back after United. Coutinho will need a few weeks longer.”
The expectation is that the Brazilian will be out for four weeks.
Never mind worrying about the central defensive options, who’s going to shoot wide or over from distance now?
Klopp expects Lovren to be ready after the Man United game and Coutinho will take two or three weeks longer.
