Mauricio Pochettino has spoken of the need to build Fernando Llorente’s “confidence”.
Llorente is yet to score since joining Tottenham from Swansea in the summer, and missed a gilt-edged opportunity in the 2-1 defeat to Leicester.
The Spaniard has started just three games in all competitions, with each of his eight Premier League appearances coming from the bench.
He netted 15 times in 33 games for Swansea last season, but Pochettino has hinted that a demotion to squad player, not starter, has dented his confidence.
“Yes of course, it is about building the confidence of the player and, it is true, the chance was so clear,” Pochettino said.
“We feel bad because it was a chance to score for 2-2 and it was so clear.
“We need to accept that but everything in the last few games is against us and we need to be calm, trust and work hard for the next game.”
