Pochettino pours praise on ‘fantastic’ Dyche and Burnley

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino admits he is still irritated by Burnley’s last-gasp equaliser at Wembley as he seeks to banish memories of it this weekend.

The Argentinian saw his team drop two precious Premier League points against the Clarets in late August after failing to put the game to bed and then conceding an injury-time goal to substitute Chris Wood.

“Yes. I was so, so, so frustrated with that situation because I think we dominated the game and the way we dropped two points was terrible for us.

“But now we move on. Our idea is to try to win Saturday. It will be very tough.”

While Burnley’s impressive form has partly been at his expense, Pochettino is full of admiration for the work Sean Dyche has done in Lancashire.

He believes everyone at the club deserves credit for the success the Clarets are currently enjoying just two seasons after they returned to the top flight.

“The patience of the project that they build is fantastic,” Pochettino added.

“He’s a fantastic manager when he was in the Championship and he’s a fantastic manager when he’s in the Premier League.

“They are doing a fantastic season and I think it’s fantastic to praise him, the players and the club.

“I think in this Premier League for Burnley to be in the position that they are in is to praise the chairman, everyone; the manager, the kit man, the grass man, because they are doing a fantastic job on the Premier League.”
