Pochettino: Trippier is ‘one of the best English players’

Mauricio Pochettino believes that Tottenham right-back Kieran Trippier “is one of the best English players in the Premier League”.

Trippier impressed once more as Tottenham beat Watford 2-0 on Monday, with the 27-year-old claiming an assist for Harry Kane’s goal.

He has started 29 games in all competitions for Tottenham this season, with the north London side losing only to Juventus, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, West Ham and Manchester City on his watch.

This has been Trippier’s first season as a regular starter after the summer sale of Kyle Walker, and Pochettino is delighted with both him and Ben Davies in particular.

“I think our full-backs have been fantastic this season,” Pochettino told Standard Sport. “If you see the stats of Kieran Trippier and Ben Davies or when we play with Danny Rose and Serge Aurier, I think we have great quality there.

“For me, Kieran is one of the best English players in the Premier League and he deserves a lot of credit. Assists, playing passes, crosses he is one of the best.”
