Pochettino unhappy with Lamela showboating

Mauricio Pochettino insists he was not impressed after Erik Lamela caused an internet stir against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Lamela delighted the Tottenham crowd by nutmegging former Spurs winger Andros Townsend in the hosts 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

Pochettino, however, was less than impressed by the Argentine’s nonchalance.

“I can understand the reaction. To be honest I don’t like this kind of thing,” he said. “I understand the supporters enjoy it a lot but I enjoy winning games and scoring goals. For me it was an action but there is nothing more to say. It doesn’t create any emotion in me but I understand that it’s football and the supporters like this type of thing.”

Spurs left-back Danny Rose put his hands to his head in disbelief after Lamela beat Townsend.

Speaking to SpursTV after the match, Rose said: “I just thought: ‘Erik, why did you do that?’ It was brilliant to watch, I just wish it was against another player and not Andros. It was brilliant, sorry Andros.”
