David de Gea has labelled Paul Pogba as “something special” and says the midfielder looks like he never left Manchester United.

Pogba rejoined United from Juventus for a world record £89million transfer fee, in what is a huge statement of intent from Jose Mourinho’s outfit.

The midfielder is expected to make his second debut for the Red Devils against Southampton on Friday, and De Gea has lauded the France international’s ability.

“I think he is something special. Signing for this club, he played here before and I think he’s home,” the goalkeeper told MUTV.

“He feels like this is his home and we are all really, really happy to have him again in Manchester.

“He’s now with all his friends again in Manchester, with everyone here, and he looks like he never left the club. He’s really good for the team.”

Pogba is the biggest signing in an expensive summer for United, who have also recruited Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Reports suggest Southampton defender Jose Fonte could be the next to join, and De Dea believes the squad is much more balanced this season.

“I think it’s good to have a mix of young players and experienced players,” the Spaniard said.

“That’s what we have in the team now and I think it’s really good for the young players. They have done really well, they train very hard and it’s really good to see.”
