Pogba must ‘fight, train more and try to focus’ – De Gea

Manchester United goalkeeeper David de Gea has offered Paul Pogba some advice after his poor performance against Liverpool.

Pogba has been inconsistent since completing his move from Juventus for a world-record fee of £89million in the summer.

The France international was out of form against Jurgen Klopp’s side at the weekend and conceded a needless penalty by handballing in the area.

De Gea, who struggled when he first came to England, has some tips for Pogba if he wants to overcome the recent criticism.

“He is really important for us. He’s great in midfield, good in the dressing room. He’s an amazing player,” De Gea told Sky Sports.

“At the beginning when you don’t know the country, the players and the football it’s a bit difficult. But you have fight, train more and try to focus and have belief in yourself.

“At the beginning it was difficult for me. With new football, new players and a new language everything was hard. But I kept believing in myself and kept fighting.

“In this country, in any country, you can make mistake, we are humans. It is normal for goalkeeper and players to make mistakes.”
