Poole makes Bees pay~the penalty

Barnet almost got off to a dream start when Adam Birchall’s shot on the turn flew over the bar in the first minute.
However, Brentford took control as the first half went on and they took a deserved lead from the penalty spot after nine minutes. Brett Johnson was tripped by Albert Adomah and last season’s top scorer Poole stepped up to send Lee Harrison the wrong way.
Adomah almost made amends a minute into the second half when he was fouled in the area by Johnson and referee Darren Drysdale pointed to the spot a second time.
The Barnet winger dusted himself down to take the spot kick, but on-loan keeper Ben Hamer flung himself to his left to make a fine save.
The hosts dominated the second half but could not find a breakthrough, with Hamer saving well from Adomah again and Birchall missing from close range late on.
