Prem target Aubameyang set to remain with Dortmund
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has decided against a move to Manchester City after opting to stay with Borussia Dortmund for the time being, according to reports in the German media.
Recent reports suggested City were in ‘advanced talks’ with the Bundesliga outfit to sign the highly-rated Gabon international and although a fee was still to be finalised, it was expected City would be willing to match Dortmund’s reported £65million asking price.
However, according to Bild, the reigning African Player of the Year has opted to snub City in favour of staying at Dortmund next season.
The paper wrote: “Aubameyang has decided to stay at BVB after seriously considering his options.”
However, they also claim Dortmund have been sounding out potential signings should anyone else meet their asking price for a player who has also been linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid in recent months.
“BVB are wisely still looking for replacement, though,” Bild continued.
Reports that Aubameyang has rejected a move to City will come as a huge blow to Pep Guardiola who has made the signing of a strike partner for Sergio Aguero one of his top priorities this summer.
The striker has become one of the most prolific in world football during his time with Dortmund and before that, St Etienne.
