Manchester City have “no chance” of bringing Barcelona forward Lionel Messi to the Premier League.
City have been constantly linked with moves to Messi in what has become a quite tiresome line of transfer speculation.
The chances of Messi leaving Barcelona seem remote, with the Argentinean only ever likely to depart for boyhood club Newell’s Old Boys when his career draws to a close.
The 30-year-old is currently in fine form however, and City director Ferran Soriano has sought to distance City from any interest.
“There is no chance of signing Messi,” Soriano said.
“I know him and his family well and I know they are fine in Barcelona, which is where he needs to be.
“We will make our way without him, which will be more difficult because he is the best player in the history of football.
“He changed everything, he is a genius.”
