Pulis: I can reach top half with less than £100m spend

Tony Pulis says that merely surviving relegation is no longer the aim for West Brom.

Pulis took over at the Hawthorns with the club in relegation danger, but the Welshman says that a top-half place is now the aim.

Pulis has signed a new one-year deal at the club, and spoke to new owner Guochuan Lai and new chairman John Williams about the club’s hopes for the future.

“No, this is the point that we’ve all agreed on. The football club has got to find a way of getting into that top ten,” Pulis says.

“We want to give the supporters the chance to see the club grow within a framework that is not ridiculous where there’s hundred of millions being spent.

“And you can do that. Even if it’s just less than a hundred million. It’s important that we’re doing it in a proper way.”

“I’m not looking to bring lots and lots of players in. What we need to do, if we can, is bring in quality like Fletcher, Evans, Chadli, and Salomon, players that add to the squad.

“Instead of bringing seven or eight players in that might be ok, try and get the quality that this club needs.”
