Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey says he could miss the start of the Premier League campaign after his Euro 2016 efforts for Wales.
The blonde-haired midfielder had a terrific European Championships for his country and only missed one of Wales’ six games in France.
Ramsey will return to pre-season training with the Gunners less than two weeks before the start of the new season and is now set to take a well-deserved holiday.
But the 25-year-old, who was banned for Wales’ semi-final defeat to Portugal, fears that the lack of preparation ahead of the new season could see him sidelined for at least the first game against Liverpool on August 14.
Arsene Wenger allowed several German World Cup winning players extra time to recover after their success two years ago and Ramsey thinks he could be in a similar position.
“I am back on August 1, so I have a few weeks off but, obviously, it kicks off a couple of weeks afterwards,” he said. “A few years ago, Germany won the World Cup and the German players came in just a few days before the first game of the season, but they missed that.
“He [Wenger] does like to give players a little break and I’ll be getting the same treatment. I feel I need a few weeks off now.”
