Ranieri: Blame me for latest Leicester loss

Leicester’s dismal 3-0 defeat to Southampton was Claudio Ranieri’s fault for changing the system, the Foxes boss has insisted.

The Foxes were well-beaten on the south coast, where a James Ward-Prowse-inspired Saints looked supremely comfortable in getting the best of the Premier League champions.

The Foxes were successful in the Premier League last year playing what was widely recognised to be 4-4-2, but the loss of N’Golo Kante has forced Ranieri into a rethink, something he admitted has backfired.

“The last matches I changed the shape to try and help my players find the right solution but maybe I made mistakes and was wrong,” he said.

“My players are used to 4-4-1-1 and they recognise the system. I made a mistake.

“They won and played better than us and deserved to win.”
