Argentina superstar Lionel Messi has branded the Argentine Football Association (AFA) “a disaster” in regard to the team’s travel plans.

The Barcelona man vented his frustrations on Instagram as his side prepare for the Copa America final against Chile on Monday morning (1am).

The Argentina captain was left fuming when the squad’s flight from Houston to New Jersey was delayed and he took to social media to vent his anger.

Argentina’s new all-time leading goalscorer after netting his 55th international goal in the 4-0 semi-final mauling of  the United States wrote: “Once again waiting on a plane to leave for our destination.

“What a disaster the AFA are. My god!”

The post provoked a response from the AFA, who released a statement, which read: “The Argentine Football Federation informs that the flight which is transporting the national team to New Jersey suffered a delayed departure due to weather issues.

“Also, the AFA advises that all of the scheduled times of the transfers are designated by the organisers of the Copa America Centenario.”
