Redknapp expresses ‘worry’ over poor Coutinho form

Jamie Redknapp is concerned over the form of Liverpool forward Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho scored six goals and assisted a further five in 14 games for Liverpool this season in 2016, but his performances have tailed off since suffering an injury in November.

In 12 games since returning, he has just one goal and one assist each to his name, and the Reds have struggled as a result.

He was once more a peripheral figure against Burnley on Sunday, and Redknapp says Jurgen Klopp must remedy the situation.

‘The one worry for me is Philippe Coutinho at the moment,’ he told the Daily Mail.

‘The man was on fire earlier in the season, he was the difference.

‘But some of the magic has gone and he needs to try and get that back. That’s the manager’s job this week.

‘Especially at Man City where he’s had a lot of success in the last two or three seasons. That’s a bit of a worry for me because he makes such a difference.

‘When he plays well, so do Liverpool.’
