Redknapp: I don’t think this is ‘a great Man United team’

Harry Redknapp has expressed his doubts over the true quality of this Manchester United side.

United cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday, maintaining their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

They are level on points with bitter rivals Manchester City after seven games, and have scored four goals or more six times already this campaign.

Our own Ian Watson noted that we are yet to see the best of Jose Mourinho’s side and bigger challenges lie ahead, but Redknapp was even more vocal in doubting their true quality.

“When you look at this Manchester United team, it wouldn’t fill you with fear,” he told BT Sport. “Look at this back four: it’s not a great back four. Young’s playing left-back, Valencia’s at right-back. Smalling, Jones.

“When you look at the great back fours they’ve had over the years it’s certainly not in that class.

“Fellaini’s in midfield alongside Matic, big and strong. I still don’t think, looking at it, that it’s a great Man United team.”
