Jamie Redknapp believes Manchester United fans will be yearning for Angel Di Maria after his recent performances.
United signed Di Maria for a club-record £59.7million fee in summer 2014, but the Argentinean struggled at Old Trafford after initially impressing.
French side Paris Saint-Germain signed the Argentinean a year later, and Di Maria has been in excellent form since.
The winger assisted one goal and was particularly dangerous against Chelsea on Wednesday as the French champions proceeded to the Champions League quarter-finals.
Matt Stead believes that Di Maria represents United manager Louis van Gaal’s biggest mistake of his tenure, and Jamie Redknapp echoed those thoughts on Thursday.
Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, Redknapp said: “I wonder what Manchester United fans would give to have Angel di Maria playing for them now in this form.
I have no idea how he failed so badly at Old Trafford under Louis van Gaal when he’s capable of that pinpoint cross for Ibrahimovic’s late winner. What a player!”
