Southampton are close to the signing of Norwich City winger Nathan Redmond, according to reports.

In the Daily Mirror, Darren Lewis reports that talks are now at an advanced stage over an £11m move for the English winger. Redmond was also thought to be interesting Stoke and West Brom, but we can’t begin to describe just how much more sense Southampton makes.

Redmond was Norwich’s top goalscorer last season, despite being left on the bench on occasion by Alex Neil. He started 24 Premier League games, and regularly looked like Norwich’s most exciting player. After the club’s relegation, it’s no surprise to see them cash in.

As Lewis himself says, Southampton signing Redmond would be a clear indication that Sadio Mane could be set to leave the club, with the Saints struggling to hold on to the Senegal international.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United have all been linked with Mane, with the player yet to commit his future to the club.
