Arsenal set their asking price at €60 million (£55million) for midfielder Mesut Ozil after Barcelona made a late enquiry, according to reports.
The German playmaker only has a year left on his current contract with the Gunners unable to tie him down to a new long-term contract.
Cadena COPE claims that Barca are looking for alternatives as Liverpool continue to reject bids for Philippe Coutinho and are considering a move for Ozil.
Reports had suggested last month that Ozil would sign a new deal at the Emirates Stadium worth £225,000-a-week but that has so far failed to materialise.
The Catalan giants have seen all of their bids rejected for Coutinho but Don Balon say Coutinho has agreed terms with the Catalans and have suggested the £138million deal will be finalised before the Spanish transfer window shuts at midnight on September 1.
The Spanish transfer window remains open until midnight on Friday which gives Barca plenty of time to complete a deal for one of their options.
