Manchester City have made an offer involving cash and winger Raheem Sterling in an attempt to land Alexis Sanchez this summer, according to reports.
Sanchez is in the last year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and the Gunners will have to decide whether to sell him now or potentially lose him for nothing next summer.
Arsene Wenger and Arsenal have repeatedly stressed that they have no desire to sell Sanchez this summer but that hasn’t prevented rumours of interest from around Europe.
The strongest link in the Premier League has been from Man City and the Daily Mirror claims that there has now been ‘direct contact between the clubs’ and that the Citizens have put an offer on the table involving Sterling.
Sterling has made a strong start to the new season under Pep Guardiola with two goals in three appearances, with the equaliser against Everton and the winner against Bournemouth.
The report continues by suggesting it could take an offer of £70million for the Gunners to part with Sanchez but City aren’t willing to pay that in cash.
Which means a player-plus-cash offer is seen as the only way that City have a chance of landing Sanchez this summer.
Meanwhile, Daniel Storey and Matt Stead have compiled a list of the top ten most likely deals to be completed before the end of the transfer window.
