Cristiano Ronaldo wants wage parity with his fellow Ballon d’Or rivals Lionel Messi and Neymar, according to reports.
Neymar joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer and signed a bumper £22m-a-year (€25m) contract following a £200million transfer from Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Messi is set to scoop a new deal at the Catalan club that will earn him at least what the Brazilian earns at the French side.
However, Ronaldo brings home £20.2million-a-season in salary – which meant he was highest paid player in Europe in 2016 – and the Portugal international is keen to get back on a par with Neymar and Messi.
Spanish outlet Diario Gol reports that Ronaldo is unhappy that isn’t paid a wage that matches his status as the 2016 Ballon d’Or winner.
Asked about his contract on Tuesday, Ronaldo said: “You have to ask the president about that, maybe he knows that better than I do.”
