Liverpool are looking to smash their transfer record with an ambitious bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
Aubameyang had another incredible season in front of goal for the Bundesliga outfit last term with 40 goals in 45 matches in all competitions.
That form has seen him linked with a host of clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, who he was reportedly on the brink of joining.
And now French news outlet Le Parisien claims that Liverpool’s hierarchy will pay as much as £61.3m (€70m) for the Gabon international.
The highest fee the Reds have paid for a player was the reported £35million they gave to Newcastle United for striker Andy Carroll back in 2011.
It is understood that PSG pulled out of their deal for Aubameyang when sporting director Antero Henrique decided it wouldn’t represent good value for money.
The Bundesliga Golden Boot winner – who was managed by Jurgen Klopp at Dortmund – is open to the idea of joining Liverpool, according to Le Parisien.
