Rio Ferdinand: Next year will be Man United’s year

Rio Ferdinand says that next season is the important one for Manchester United, not this one.

Ferdinand says he expects Manchester United will spent big again next summer, which will make United more likely to challenge for the title.

Jose Mourinho’s side currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League, 13 points behind leaders Chelsea.

“I think next season will be the more important one for United,” Ferdinand said.

“They’ve spent big this summer and they’ll probably reinvest again next summer and go again the following season.

“This season, though, any one of six teams is capable of winning the league and United are in that mix.

“We need to keep being consistent and keep up a run of games where we build up confidence and get points on the board.”

Weird that, because Ferdinand backed Manchester United to win the title back in August. How times change, and expectations are dampened.
