Brendan Rodgers believes Jurgen Klopp will be given time to win the Premier League title by Liverpool’s owners.
Rodgers was sacked by the club in October, having failed to deliver any sort of trophy after being appointed in summer 2012.
The Northern Irishman almost led the Reds to their first league title since 1990 in the 2013/14 season, but the club narrowly missed out to Manchester City.
Rodgers then backed up that season with an early exit from the Champions League and a finish of seventh in the Premier League, and he was sacked after a poor start to this campaign.
Discussing his successor Klopp, Rodgers feels the German will be given time to deliver.
“The expectancy of course is to win the league,” Rodgers told the Belfast Telegraph. “We went very close in my time and obviously Jurgen will go in and feel that he can improve on that and that’s why the owners made the change.
“They felt they wanted to improve and to improve on runners-up would be to win the league but it is going to take time. I’m sure the owners will give him that time.”
