Roma want Wilshere (but not his wages)

Roma are interested in taking Jack Wilshere on a season-long loan but would ask Arsenal to pay some of his £90,000-a-week wages, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Former Tottenham Hotspur director of football Franco Baldini is currently working for the Italian club and he knows Wilshere from his spell as assistant to England manager Fabio Capello.

Arsenal are said to be keen on Wilshere moving to Serie A, where the pace of the game is slower and Wilshere would be less likely to be a target for physical midfielders.

Juventus have also been linked with the English midfielder, who has played just 37 minutes of Premier League football this season as new signing Granit Xhaka has moved ahead of him in the midfield pecking order.

West Ham were thought to be the Premier League favourites for his signature but the Hammers are said to be happy with their midfield options.
