Royals hit by Gunter ban

A Coward

Reading manager Nigel Adkins will be without the suspended Chris Gunter for the visit of Charlton.
The full-back was sent off for a second bookable offence late on in Friday’s 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest and serves a one-match ban.
Chris Baird faces a spell on the sidelines after twisting his ankle in training and joins Wayne Bridge, Sean Morrison (both knee), Jem Karacan (cruciate) and Jason Roberts (hip) on the injury list.
Adkins has hinted Jobi McAnuff will start after he made an impression off the bench at the City Ground, while Royston Drenthe and Mikele Leigertwood could both feature after returning to fitness.
Charlton manager Chris Powell, meanwhile, will again be without goalkeeper Ben Hamer for the trip to the Madejski Stadium.
Hamer injured his ankle ahead of last week’s clash with Doncaster and is not yet fit enough for a return so Ben Alnwick, who has impressed in the two matches since, will continue to deputise.
Chris Solly is closing in on a return from a knee problem but is expected to miss out once more, while fellow defender Leon Cort (knee) remains sidelined.
The Addicks have lost three of their last four games and have not won at Reading since 1981.
