West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City are both believed to be weighing up a move for released Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna.
Brighton, Chelsea, West Ham and Everton were among the names to have been rumoured to be interested in the 34-year-old’s signature during the summer – but nothing materialised.
Leicester and West Brom both registered fewer than 25 players in their Premier League squads at the start of the month.
That would mean that if one of the two clubs were to sign Sagna, he would be eligible to play for either side immediately.
Sagna started in 14 Premier League games for City last season, whilst making three appearances from the bench.
