Renato Sanches has confirmed that he rejected Manchester United in order to join Bayern Munich.
Sanches had been courted by United for most of the year, with many linking him with a £63million move to Old Trafford this summer.
Just a day after those reports emanated however, Bayern confirmed that they had struck a deal to sign the Portuguese midfielder from Benfica.
The deal for the 18-year-old could be worth €80million with add-ons pertaining to his and his new side’s future performances.
Explaining his decision to turn down interest from United in order to join the Bundesliga champions, Sanches mentioned that he will “win titles” in Germany with Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
“Manchester United made an offer. I think it was well known,” the teenager told reporters at a promotional event. “But I had other offers as well.
“I chose Bayern Munich because it’s a great club. They have a 65,000 seater stadium and an atmosphere similar to Benfica. I’ll win titles.”
