Sanchez to miss Arsenal tour of United States with injury
Alexis Sanchez will miss Arsenal’s tour of the United States due to the ankle injury he suffered in the Copa America final.
Sanchez was forced off in extra-time of Chile’s penalty shoot-out victory over Argentina following a heavy challenge from River Plate’s Gabriel Mercado.
Reports earlier this month suggested the former Barcelona forward could miss the start of the season, but Arsene Wenger is confident the 27-year-old will be fit to face Liverpool on August 14.

“Alexis will not go because he had an ankle injury,” Wenger told Arsenal Player. “It is not too bad but I will leave him behind.”
The Gunners’ Euro 2016 contingent from Wales, Germany and France will also miss the fixtures against the MLS All-Stars and Chivas, as well as Brazilian defender Gabriel Paulista.
“The players who won’t make it are the players who went very far in the European Championship, such as [Aaron] Ramsey, [Mesut] Ozil, [Olivier] Giroud and [Laurent] Koscielny,” Wenger added.
“I left Gabriel behind today because he has tonsillitis and is infected. He cannot travel.”
