Saunders gets Bees buzzing

The winger curled a beauty around the wall and past former Bees goalkeeper Ashley Bayes after just nine minutes. But the Blue Square Bet South side grew in confidence after the break and only a last-ditch clearance off the line from a goalmouth melee by Leon Legge prevented a first-round replay.
Delano Sam-Yorke went close for the visitors just before the interval, but saw his angled drive tipped into the side netting by Richard Lee.
The League One outfit’s cause was not helped when skipper Kevin O’Connor was stretchered off with his leg in a brace just before half-time.
Marcel Eger skimmed the bar after the break for Uwe Rosler’s men, but, as the game wore on, it was the non-league side who looked the more likely to score.
Stuart Lake volleyed wide from distance and winger Matt Warner was a constant threat to the jittery Bees defence. Their best chance came with seven minutes remaining as Lake fed Warner, whose low drive was well saved by Lee.
