Scholes tells Mourinho the Man United XI to pick

Paul Scholes has opened his mouth yet again, this time to offer advice to Jose Mourinho on which Manchester United team to pick.

Scholes has been repeatedly critical of United since his retirement, with a quiet player turning into a very vocal pundit.

Like many others, Scholes believes that United would be best set up in a 4-3-3 formation, in order to get the best out of Paul Pogba.

“Smalling and Bailly obviously,” Scholes told BT Sport. Sorry Daley Blind.

“Luke Shaw when he’s fully fit – he’ll get in the team. Valencia has been a revelation [at right-back].”

Scholes then picked a midfield three of Michael Carrick (we know, shock horror), Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba, but also made the point of demanding that Bastian Schweinsteiger is used more often.

“Schweinsteiger must have something to offer the team. He’s got, what? 130 caps for Germany? Great experience to have around.”

Finally, Scholes turned his attention to the strikers:

“I’d have Martial and Rashford – the pace. You have to play those two and then it’s Ibrahimovic or Rooney.”

So, pretty close to the team that Mourinho has actually been picking then? And what happened to poor Henrikh Mkhitaryan?
