Jurgen Klopp – who says he now looks like a “serial killer” – has given an update on numerous Liverpool injuries.
In Saturday’s wild celebrations at Adam Lallana’s added-time winner, the Reds boss had his glasses knocked off and broken by striker Benteke.
He appeared at the club’s Melwood training ground bespectacled once again, but he is not a fan of his spare pair.
“These are not new – they are my second pair of glasses. Now I have to be careful,” he joked.
“They are black and I look a little bit like a serial killer.”
Asked whether Benteke would have to pay for the damage, Klopp replied: “It was my fault and never in my life has someone had to pay for something which is my fault.”
Speaking ahead of the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg against Stoke, Klopp gave a rundown of the numerous injuries his side must contend with.
“Dejan Lovren after three weeks trained yesterday, a complete session. That was good,” Klopp said. “We’ll have to see in the next 24 hours what’s up with Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho because Steven Caulker can’t play.
“Nathaniel Clyne has got a knock. He’s a really tough boy. I think we should leave him out of training and leave him overnight.
“We have only Jon Flanagan. We love Flanno. But he’s been out a long time. Playing 90 minutes is not the best thing for him.
“I don’t think we have any serious injuries.”
