Bafana Bafana head coach Shakes Mashaba is waiting on injury scans for Thulani Serero and Tsepo Masilela ahead of Saturday's clash with Mauritania.

The duo have not yet reported for this week's training camp, with their parent clubs informing the South African Football Association (SAFA) that their players were unavailable due to injury.

However, the national side's medical team have responded by requesting the duo travel to the Bafana camp to undergo a thorough assessment.

Mashaba has already brought in Supersport United's Clayton Daniels for the injured Thulani Hlatshwayo, but is not planning to replace Serero and Masilela.

"Thulani Serero, we received a message from Amsterdam saying he is injured, they sent us a scan, but he has started training," National team doctor Thulani Ngwenya told African Football.

"We have asked him to come through for a medical assessment, we will only know once his is here so that we can determine whether he is fit.

"Regarding Masilela, we communicated with the Kaizer Chiefs medical team and they sent us a report that he is also injured, he has a knee injury, and we are still waiting for him to come through for medical assessment.

"They are expected to be here today. I haven't received any confirmation [regarding Masilela], we are still waiting."
