Shakhtar Donetsk boss Mircea Lucescu says he will “fully support” Alex Teixeira’s move to Chelsea if the price is right.
Teixeira has scored 67 league goals in 146 league matches for Shakhtar, with 26 goals in 25 matches in all competitions so far this season, which has caught the eye of some of Europe’s big guns.
Chelsea are believed to be tracking the 26-year-old, who arrived from Vasco da Gama in late 2009.
Lucescu says his players will only leave for “top teams” and told Sky Sports: “If there is an offer that will satisfy both player and the club I will fully support his move.
“At the moment, Alex is Shakhtar’s player. We’ll see in the summer, now there’s no point talking about it.
“This year, he needs to play so that he grows even more, despite the fact that Alex’s level is very high even today.
“I want to see my players perform in the best, top teams in Europe. This means that both my assistants and I have not been working in vain for so many years.
“We signed players, who were 17-19, and brought them to the level of the top clubs. I wonder how many coaches in Europe are working based on such a scheme?”
Chelsea have struggled in front of goal this season with just 26 scored in 20 Premier League games.
Diego Costa has failed to find the form of his first season with Chelsea, while Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao have also been off the pace with the trio scoring just 10 goals between them in all competitions so far this term.
