Shaqiri tips Stoke for the Premier League title

Xherdan Shaqiri believes that Stoke can “do a Leicester” and win the Premier League title next season.

The Potters ended a run of three consecutive ninth-place finishes in England’s top flight this season, ending a disappointing campaign in 13th.

Mark Hughes has come under some pressure from the fans, and is expected to at the very least deliver a top-half finish next year.

The Welshman has already added one player to his existing squad, bringing in West Brom captain Darren Fletcher on a free transfer, and Shaqiri is clearly really bloody impressed.

“I’m trying to get the club to the top as leader. But I also want to play for titles again and be in the Champions League,” he told The Sun.

“We were up and down as a team this season. Now we want to attack again in the summer. The board must strengthen – other clubs will also be doing it.

“Can Stoke do a Leicester? Yes, I think this is possible.”

We’d have pissed ourselves laughing if Jamie Vardy said it in June 2015, to be fair.
