Luke Shaw has confirmed that he will fly back to Manchester United on Saturday to begin his rehabilitation following a double leg break.
Shaw suffered a broken leg at the hands of PSV defender Hector Moreno on Tuesday in the Champions League following a tackle which former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane dubbed as “brilliant”.
The England international is likely to face at least six months out due to the injury, and despite his lengthy lay-off, manager Louis van Gaal said he was ‘amazed’ by Shaw’s high spirits in midweek.
Shaw has confirmed that he will now fly back to Manchester to “start my journey back onto the football pitch”, and thanked the Dutch hospital for looking after him.
I just wanna say a massive thank you to everyone at St Anna hospital for all the care and attention they have given me the last few days. Something I will never forget! Am pleased to be flying back to Manchester today so I can start my journey back onto the football pitch!
